Testing Process and Results

Getting tested at Hybrid Health Systems is straightforward and private. Walk-ins are welcome during regular hours, or you can schedule an appointment if you prefer a specific time. There is no need for a referral, and you do not need to provide a reason for testing.

The testing process typically involves:

  • A brief, confidential intake with a medical assistant covering your concerns and relevant history
  • Specimen collection — depending on the tests ordered, this may include a blood draw, urine sample, or swab of an affected area
  • Provider consultation — your provider is available to answer questions, address concerns, and discuss prevention strategies

Rapid vs. Standard Results

We offer rapid testing for select infections, including HIV, with results available during your visit — typically within 15 to 30 minutes. Standard laboratory panels are sent to our reference lab with results available in one to three business days. You will be contacted securely with your results, and a follow-up visit will be scheduled if any results require further discussion or treatment.

Every interaction — from check-in to results delivery — is handled with strict confidentiality. Your STI test results are protected health information and will never be shared without your explicit authorization.

Treatment and Support

If your test results are positive, our providers are prepared to begin treatment immediately in most cases. Many bacterial STIs, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, are curable with appropriate antibiotic therapy. Viral infections such as herpes and HIV are manageable with ongoing medical care and medication.

Do I need to make an appointment for STI testing?

No appointment is required. Walk-ins are welcome during regular clinic hours. If you prefer a specific time or want to minimize wait, you are welcome to schedule ahead by phone.

How soon after exposure should I get tested?

Testing windows vary by infection. Some STIs like gonorrhea and chlamydia can be detected within a few days of exposure. HIV and syphilis may require two to four weeks for accurate detection. Your provider can recommend the optimal testing timeline based on the type of potential exposure.

Can I get treated on the same day as my test?

Yes, in many cases. If rapid testing confirms a treatable infection, our providers can prescribe or administer antibiotics during the same visit. For infections detected through laboratory testing, we will contact you with results and schedule prompt treatment.

Does insurance cover STI testing?

Most insurance plans cover STI screening, especially when ordered by a provider based on risk factors or symptoms. Preventive STI screenings are often covered at no cost under the Affordable Care Act. Self-pay pricing is also available for patients without insurance or those who prefer not to use their coverage.
